Our Origin Story

From a Small Kitchen
in Vellore to Your Doorstep

It all started in 1999 in a small kitchen in Anna Nagar, Chennai, when Lakshana Dhivyam — a homemaker, mother, and passionate cook — began preparing traditional South Indian snacks for her neighbourhood. Word spread faster than she expected.

What began as a labour of love — gifting handmade Seeval and Mixture to friends during Diwali — grew into something she never imagined. By 2005, she was fulfilling orders from across Chennai. By 2012, pan-Tamil Nadu. Today, her snacks reach families across India.

But through it all, one thing never changed: every single product is still made by hand, with the same recipes, the same care, and the same belief that food made with love simply tastes different.

Our Methods

Traditional Preparation Methods

We follow the same techniques used in Tamil kitchens for centuries — because some wisdom cannot be improved upon by machines.

Stone Grinding
01

Stone Grinding (Chakki)

We use traditional chakki stone mills to grind rice flour and spice blends. This cold-grinding process preserves natural oils, enzymes and flavour compounds that heat-based industrial grinding destroys. The result is a living flour full of character.

Retains 100% natural nutrient profile
Sun Drying
02

Natural Sun Drying

Ingredients like curry leaves, chilli and lentils are dried under direct Tamil Nadu sun for 2–3 days. Natural solar drying concentrates flavour and removes moisture without chemical dehydration or industrial drying ovens.

Zero chemical dehydration agents used
Cold Pressed Oil
03

Cold-Pressed Wood Oil

All frying uses traditional wood-pressed (kolhu) groundnut oil — extracted without heat by wooden cold-press machines. This preserves Vitamin E, natural antioxidants and healthy fats that refined oils completely lack.

No refined or hydrogenated oils ever
Hand Pressing
04

Hand Pressing (Murukku Achchu)

Seeval is pressed through traditional brass murukku moulds by hand — not by machine. The pressure, angle and speed of pressing directly into the oil is a skill that creates the signature light texture that machines cannot replicate.

Handcrafted texture machines cannot match
Dry Roasting
05

Cast Iron Dry Roasting

Lentils, sesame and spices are roasted on old cast iron tawas without oil — the traditional method for powder making. Cast iron distributes heat evenly and imparts a subtle mineral quality that modern non-stick pans simply cannot deliver.

Even heat without chemical non-stick coating
Jaggery Cooking
06

Natural Jaggery Cooking

Our sweets use only block jaggery (vellam) sourced from traditional sugarcane farms — never refined sugar or corn syrup. Jaggery cooking requires precise temperature judgment that only an experienced hand can master.

Zero refined sugar in any sweet product
